“The Heart of America,” by Will Foreman and and Travis Dow

  • (AKA American Dream)

When the moon floats high above the prairies

and evening mists flow through the Golden Gate

When darkness stills Long Island ferries

and searching spirits board the Ship of State

Will they find the heart of America

and see that our homes are filled with love?

When they search the soul of America

Will they find what they’ve been dreaming of…?

Travelers from everywhere upon the earth

From every house of faith, from every race…

Full of hope we left the homelands of our birth

To infuse our lives with a sense of grace…

This world has given birth to America

Everyone desires to be free

but destiny has chosen America

to realize the dreams of you and me.

As raindrops find their way back to the sea

And flowers learn to grow in desert sand

So let’s shed a tear for humanity

and find a way to lend a helping hand…

Terror flows from the hand of tyranny

Where knowledge is forbidden there is only night

When sunlight paints the land of the free,

All people turn their faces toward the light.

In the places we call America

Where the mountains and the sky join the sea

The power and the will define America

And in this hour comes the call to lead!

So come home to the heart of America

As we create a new democracy

All across the homelands of America

Where the world needs us to stand and be free…
